Summer RefreshWe've added another unit this year, and so have an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women at 17 prison units in Texas that lack proper cleaning supplies or air conditioning. In the unit Hannah was in, there have been many positive cases of COVID-19. In prison, there is no way to socially distance, or to follow basic hand washing recommendations. And once again, we will be delivering soap to the women.
Even though we are all being quarantined, and strongly encouraged to wash our hands, disinfect, and hydrate in order to stay healthy, these are measures unavailable to women in Texas prisons. Most of the women's units in Texas still do not have air conditioning. In the unit Hannah was in, temperatures regularly reached 115 degrees and higher. You can imagine the health issues this causes. Many groups and law makers are working to get this changed. But until the problem is resolved, our desire is to help to make the conditions a bit more tolerable. This year, besides soap and shampoo, we are giving ankle socks. Why ankle socks? Won't that make the women hotter?! No. You see, the women have to wear the socks they are given. And those socks are wool knee socks. These ankle socks will provide an alternative to the knee-high wool socks. By providing these items, we are able to meet a very large need in a small way. We will be delivering these items during the month of July to 10,000 ladies. We would love your help gathering the products again this year and providing finances to purchase the soap, shampoo, deodorant, and socks. We have received many thank you letters stating how much of a difference this small act of kindness made in these women's lives this past year. They are scared like many others are due to COVID. But these ladies also know they will not get the care they need if they do contract it. Women in Texas prisons have been on lockdown for so many months now, which means they have to stay in their beds. Plus, they don't get to talk much with family because visitors are not allowed and phone calls are very limited. This means that more than ever, they feel forgotten and alone. Some of you helped us by writing letters of encouragement too. These letters and the gifts, remind these ladies that they are not forgotten. Some wrote saying the gifts and the letters stopped them from ending their lives. Really! The gifts made such a huge difference. Hundreds of new women have signed up to be a part of our Bible Study Program. So, again, this small gift makes such a big difference. Thank you for helping to make this happen. We are so grateful for you. Donations can be made directly through our website or by mail. |

Thank you so much for partnering with us. We couldn’t do this ministry without you!
For every $10 donation, we will send you one of these water bottles. Please let us know how many bottles you would like, as many folks like to donate without receiving a bottle. |
