Summer Refresh
Every year, we go to 16 prison units in Texas. Most of the women's units in Texas still do not have air conditioning. In the unit Hannah was in, temperatures regularly reached 115 degrees and higher. You can imagine the health issues this causes. Justice advocacy groups and law makers are working to get this changed. But until the problem is resolved, our desire is to help to make the conditions a bit more tolerable.
This year, we will be giving cooling towels to all of the women in these units. By providing these items, we are able to meet a very large need in a small way. We are scheduled to deliver these items in July to 10,000 ladies. Every year, we receive many thank you letters stating how much of a difference this small act of kindness makes in these women's lives. This small act of kindness helps the women know they are not forgotten or alone. Some of you helped us by writing letters of encouragement too. These letters and the gifts, remind these ladies that they are worth remembering. Some write saying the gifts and the letters stopped them from ending their lives. Really! The gifts make such a huge difference. Hundreds of new women have signed up to be a part of our Bible Study Program. So, again, this small gift makes such a big difference.
