![]() We are so excited to share with you all that's been going on with Syndeo Discipleship School. Students are here, and God is doing amazing things! We are blessed to get a front-row seat to watch God heal and restore these women's lives. The classes include Calvary Chapel Bible College studies and emotional healing such as "Healed and Set Free." Lessons in more practical applications like financial stewardship and computer are also underway. Plus, court-ordered and re-entry classes, like anger management, are available too.
It's been so neat to have other women who join us through video conferencing too, along with the ladies in SDS. It is a lovely and deeply caring group of women. We absolutely love our classes! Click here to read the October 2021 Newsletter ![]() We are excited to announce that the Syndeo Discipleship School is now ready to open. All of the State approvals and paperwork are in order, the school curriculum is finished, and insurance is purchased. God has provided Cindy as the resident advisor, and she is moved in and ready to begin.
During this first year, we will limit the number of women to about 8. We want to start smaller so that each lady can get more one on one discipleship time. Plus, a small number will be better as we "work out the kinks." Our hope is that some of these first students will choose to stay on as mentors for the classes that will follow. The excitement doesn't stop there! God has been moving in Mexico, and we've been so blessed to go several times in the previous months. Remember Lucy's story in a recent newsletter? A few more women that we know are in the same situation as she was and need help. As a result, Syndeo will be renting a house in Nuevo Laredo to provide a safe place for these women. We plan to make the Syndeo Discipleship School classes available through Zoom so the ladies at Casa Syndeo can participate. This is a very new endeavor, and we are so thankful to the Regalos de Amor staff for partnering with us to make this happen. They are an amazing team! We are so excited about all that is happening at Syndeo Ministries, and how many groups we've had come to help us out and get things done here. So much of what is accomplished is because of these teams of servants through work projects. Would your group like to get scheduled? If construction and handyman work is your cup of tea, our current construction project is the bunkhouse, which will house 25 women transitioning out of prison, who will soon become a part of Syndeo Discipleship School. We always have admin stuff to do too! There are lots of letters to write! There is usually landscaping to do too. We promise, there's a lot to do around here. ![]() Larry and Ray building a handicapped bathroom for Laurie. They have been busy preparing handicapped-accessible rooms and a bathroom. The first step was to demolish the old bathroom. And now they are building a new one. They were at the plumbing stage when the snow and freeze happened in Texas. That meant there were no plumbing supplies in any of the stores here. That's ok because there is so much to do anyway. So they just moved onto the next project.
Renovating the house in Mexico. If you remember from our previous newsletters, God has done miracles for Lucy. This circumstance opened the doors for Syndeo Ministries to start a satellite school in Mexico. Our sweet friends at Regalos de Amor are helping us to oversee this. We have rented a house. But it does need some work. So we’re fixing it up! Lucy will live in Casa Syndeo. And she is so excited! She has cleaned the house from top to bottom. And she and Chuy are painting today! Lucy is already joining us for the Syndeo Discipleship School classes through video conferencing. She is considering starting a small business making tamales to help with finances. For outreach opportunities, Lucy will continue to help Regalos de Amor in the food distribution for those in the neighborhood in need. Our hope is that Casa Syndeo will be a safe place for other students like Lucy. Plus, we get to stay there too when we visit. We are still working on getting the house furnished. And the security gate will be up any day now. ![]() Hannah and Debi have been to Mexico a few times this past month to help their good friend Lucy get established after ICE dropped her off in Mexico with no money and only the clothing on her back.
Read this incredible story of God's faithfulness to His precious child. On July 3rd, Lucy was released from prison. ICE picked her up at the prison and took her straight to Mexico. She only had the clothes on her back. We had put money on her books, and so did others we knew, so she could pay for a hotel or transportation, or phone calls. But she wasn't even given the money that was on her books. She was told it would be mailed to her once she had an address. The ICE bus stopped in a border town and immigration let her make a three-minute phone call to tell us she would be dropped off at the Monterrey bus station...Read more Click here to read the Summer Newsletter 2020 |

New Book by the Overton Kids
We are so excited to announce the release of a brand new book and devotional written by the Overton Kids. Hannah worked with the kids during the previous school year, as they were asked to write on the Fruit of the Spirit for a homeschool lesson. Since Debi already writes, she was able to put it together in book and devotional form, and we published the book through Syndeo Ministries. The photos were taken by Isaac, while on a missionary trip to Indonesia, and the sketches and poems are all done by Isabel. We are so proud of all of the work the kids put into this project, and think you will be touched by how each of their personalities and relationship with Jesus Christ shines through the writing and art. Book Description The “Fruit of the Spirit" are not character qualities attainable only by the holiest among us, as some would portray, but nutrients we all have access to through the Holy Spirit, as we cling to Jesus the Vine and allow Him to work in and through us! In this devotional, the Overton Kids have put together thoughtful and personal selections on how they perceive the Fruit of the Spirit. They delve into the nine Fruits of the Spirit, with each of four children discussing aspects of every Fruit. The reader is given the opportunity to explore and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ as they study the Word of God and the Fruit of the Spirit. |
